Lapis Luna

Lapis Luna is a dazzling group of New York City jazz musicians whose music is a blend of youthful swinging energy and classic, elegant jazz. The band is comprised of the musicians, who set themselves apart with their authentic approach to favorite jazz standards and beloved bossa nova tunes complete with warm vocals, stay true to the original intention of songs, providing sophisticated and stylish jazz music that is a perfect addition for any club, restaurant, wedding or party. Mixed into their repertoire of choice standards and beautiful obscure tunes, are original compositions by bassist Chris Pistorino.

The heart of their music draws from the songbooks of Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and the Beatles. In addition to lovely arrangements of this music, striking original songs are presented to rave reviews.

Lapis Luna’s forte is playing timeless jazz, swing, & bossa nova songs the way they were meant to be heard: vibrant, fun, romantic, and cool. In their music you can hear subtle traces of Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Peggy lee, Chet Baker, and Nat King Cole all the while staying true to the song.

The band has had the pleasure of performing for Mayor Guiliani on two occasions, one being his party for the Subway World Series, and also for Mayor Bloomberg. World-renowned cellist Lynn Harrell had the jazz trio play for his 60th birthday party at Tavern on the Green. One of our favorite 'events' was at Central Park's famous Literary Walk where we serenaded a wedding engagement! Lapis Luna also performs with national touring acts, and have even been broadcast live on Swing City Radio WGBB AM 1240! Lapis Luna has become a fixture in NYC's jazz scene, holding regular spots at Blue Water Grill, The Bubble Lounge, Detour, Chez Suzette and more..
